Welcome to “The Dip”

The DipIn case you don’t know already, “The Dip” is a book by Seth Godin. In it he talks about how you need to get through this “Dip” in order to be successful.

I always thought it was a great book, but I’ve realised that I’ve been in The Dip myself recently. I’m hoping that I’m going to be able to keep going and get through it on the road to success.

My latest internet marketing tools

Tool kitI’ve been buying internet marketing tools for several years but not doing very much with them.

As I have come across these tools the sales pitches have managed to convince me that I can’t go another day without them, and that as soon as I buy them the money will start rolling in.

Well that didn’t happen, and it’s only recently that I have started to make some money online.

Getting started with online video

Girl with camcorderIt seems that I’m not going to get very far in online business and internet marketing unless I learn how to use video effectively.

I do have some experience of making videos of narrated PowerPoint presentations, and for the Quick Start Challenge I had to make a video of me talking to the camera.

However, I’m learning that there is a lot more that can be done, and I’m starting to explore the various options.

Making videos available online

I recently obtained some excellent internet marketing training and case study videos from my mentor, Dean Holland.

My First $1,000 Day Online

Bag of money
My First $1,000 Day Online!

I set up this website a few weeks ago, and made my first post on July 9th. The post was called “The Quick Start Challenge“. It talked about a 28-day coaching program I had joined, and how I was aiming to make my first dollar online.

If I’m honest, I had really started the Challenge more in hope than expectation, but I can’t believe how things have moved on in the short time since then.

I have actually started to make money online, and as the title of this post says, this week I’ve had my first $1,000 day! I can hardly believe it.

My First Solo Ad Campaign

Advertising bullhornI’ve heard and read quite a bit about solo ads, but I haven’t taken the plunge and done a solo ad campaign until now. The main reason I haven’t done it in the past is that solo ads cost money, and you need something to advertise that is likely to cover the cost of the ads and hopefully make a profit.

I have considered using solo ads to send people to a web page where they can leave their email address in order to receive a free gift (what I now know is a “squeeze” or “opt-in” page). This would help me to build my list, and as everyone always says, “the money is in the list”.

Why don’t people use the internet marketing products they buy?

In an earlier post I talked about Frank Kern’s two commandments for online business success, and the first one was “Thou shalt not f*** around”. This commandment referred to people (like me) who buy internet marketing products, one after the other, and never actually do anything with them.

I found a video on YouTube where Frank and John Reese, another internet marketing guru, go to see Tony Robbins to talk about why very few people who buy internet marketing products ever use them.

Frank Kern’s keys to success

SuccessI found an amazing video on YouTube where Frank Kern talks about how to be successful in online business. You can find it further down the page.

There are dozens of great Frank Kern videos online but this one really grabbed me because in it Frank provides his two commandments of internet success, on which more later.

Who is Frank Kern?

If you have an interest in internet marketing and online business you probably know who Frank Kern is, but just in case you don’t here’s a little bit of info.

My Free Gift

16 Ways To Use Videos To Market Your BusinessThe task set for week three of the Quick Start Challenge was to provide a free gift and set up an opt-in form so that website visitors could download it.

The free gift I am using is an ebook called, “16 Ways To Use Videos To Market Your Business”. The image on the right used be linked to take you to the page where you could download the ebook.

This ebook is part of “Video Marketing Blueprint”, a new package by Edmund Loh , which I purchased the other day. Since I’ve been thinking about producing videos as a result of the week 2 challenge, I have found this package really useful.

The main part of the package is a book called, as you might expect, “Video Marketing Blueprint”. The book takes you from choosing a profitable niche, crafting your offer, then creating and marketing your videos.

The Quick Start Challenge

“Right. That’s it. I’ve had enough.”

These are the first words on one of my favourite blogs. It’s called, “One Man’s Battle To Make Money Online”, and it’s written by Chris Farrell.

You may have heard of Chris, who is one of the best known names in internet marketing. An interesting thing about his blog is that it shows he really did start off knowing almost nothing about the internet, or how to make money on it, and look where he is now.
